Kevyn Orr left his position with Jones Day, a worldwide law firm less than one month before accepting an appointment to being Emergency Manager for Detroit. The obvious conflict of interest is Jones Day represents the banks which hold bond debt on the city. Jones Day also represents the banks holding mortgage securities on most Detroit properties - which have participated in predatory lending pushing Detroiters out of their houses. These same banks are tied to Credit Ratings which have reduced the city's bond issues far below investment grade.
Insist on the EM immediately turning over Detroit to US Bankruptcy under Chapter 9 if in fact the State of Michigan continues to feel there is a financial emergency. This fabricated emergency which is endangering human lives needs to be stopped. Officials in the State of Michigan need to be brought to federal court and stand conspiracy charges.
