Screenplay written by William Richert for the 1979 conspiracy film "Winter Kills" (also directed by Richert). Based on Richard Condon's novel of the same name. The all-star cast included Jeff Bridges, John Huston and Anthony Perkins with cameos by Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Boone and Toshiro Mifune.
Trivia: The role of "Pa Kegan" was originally offered to Frank Sinatra, who rejected it because--according to the novel's author Richard Condon--he didn't want to appear on-screen as an aging family patriarch. The role was eventually given to John Huston, who had no such qualms.
